Customize Your Floating Action Button

Summary

The Floating Action Button (FAB), labeled as Resources, is a consolidated hub for essential portal links and support tools. It replaces the traditional footer tabs, providing a cleaner interface and ensuring that critical resources—for example, the Privacy Policy, Support Form, Cookies, and Custom Links—are always accessible, across the entire platform.

Who?

Admins: Can configure the specific content within the FAB, such as the Support Form, Custom Links and the Privacy Policy, via the Portal Settings.

Users: All users can view, interact with, and reposition the FAB to suit their browsing preferences.

Why?

Bynder aims to maximize screen real estate while keeping vital tools within reach. The FAB solves several key challenges:

  • Consistency: Unlike traditional footer tabs, the FAB renders perfectly across all views.

  • Reduced Clutter: Consolidates your footer buttons into a single, elegant menu.

  • User Control: Users can move the button if it happens to cover specific content or UI elements.

How?

Using the FAB

Note: The items in the Floating Action Button may vary based on your portal settings.

  1. Locate the Resources button (typically found in the bottom corner of your portal).

  2. Click the button to expand the menu.

  3. Select the desired resource:

    • Ask for Support: Opens the integrated support form.

    • How-To Videos: Accesses guided video content.

    • Help: Offers answers to some basic help questions.

    • Links: Hover to see a submenu of custom external or internal links.

    • Privacy Policy & Cookies: Quick access to legal and data preference settings.

Repositioning the FAB

If the button is blocking a button or text on your screen:

  1. Click and hold (or long-press on mobile) the Resources button.

  2. Drag the button to a new position within the designated side area.

  3. Release to set its new location.

  4. Persistent Positioning: Once moved, the FAB will now preserve its new position across different pages and future sessions, so you don't have to reposition it every time you refresh your browser.
