Metaproperties and Options: Manage Metaproperty Options

Metaproperty options belong to specific metaproperties and play a big role in your portal's taxonomy. They allow you to classify your assets in a better way and help users to find the assets they are looking for.

Metaproperties and their options are an essential part of your Bynder taxonomy and should be configured before you upload your assets.

For example, if you have a Country metaproperty, you can add countries as options to this metaproperty

Note

You cannot add options for the metaproperties of the type: Linked assets, Text, Button

Create Metaproperty Options

Once you've successfully set up your metaproperties you can being adding options to each.

  1. Navigate to settings_menu.png Settings > Taxonomy > Metaproperties management and click Metaproperties and options in the left sidebar.

  2. Navigate or search for the metaproperty you want to add option to.

  3. Click + Add Option.

  4. Under Options enter the option name. You can add multiple options at a time by clicking Add option after typing in each name.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Once you've added all of the options you can now customize the following fields for each option.

  7. Click the option you would like to customize.

    • Name: Option Name.

    • Access Rights: Set permissions on a metaproperty level. Learn more here.

    • Translations: Add multiple languages.

    • Option details: Here you can view the database name, option ID, and external reference. (Note: Database name and option ID cannot be edited)

      • External references can be any external sources that you would like to have associated with this option, such as an external URL or Product SKU.
    • Visual: You can use a Font Awesome icon or upload your own image to display in the smartfilter next to the option name.

      • Font Awesome Icon: You can use Font Awesome icons available here, v4.7 and below. Click to browse or search for icons.

         

        • To use an icon from Font Awesome, click on it to get the full name and copy it.

        • Click next to Font Awesome icon and paste the name.

        • Click  to save.

      • Upload image:

        • Click next to Upload image to be taken to the metaproperty option icon page.

        • Click + and select an image from your computer.

        • After it’s fully processed, click Save. 

          Note

          Icons from Font Awesome version 5 or above are not supported.
          The name of the icon cannot be longer than 15 characters. 

           

Edit Metaproperty Options

  1. Navigate to settings_menu.png Settings > Taxonomy > Metaproperties management and click Metaproperties and options in the left sidebar.

  2. Navigate or search for the metaproperty that your option is associated with.

  3. Use the Search bar to locate the metaproperty option you would like to edit.

  4. Begin editing any of the option details.

Note: Database name's and option IDs cannot be edited

Delete Metaproperty Options

Important

If you delete a metaproperty option it will be removed from assets categorised with it. All automations tied to this option will also be deleted. Learn more about taxonomy automation here.

  1. Navigate to settings_menu.png Settings > Taxonomy > Metaproperties management and click Metaproperties and options in the left sidebar.

  2. Navigate or search for the metaproperty that your option is associated with.

  3. Use the Search bar to locate the metaproperty option you would like to delete.

  4. Click three_dots.png and select delete option.

  5. A warning message will appear notifying you that if you delete this option it will be deleted and removed from assets categorized with it. All automation tied to this option will also be deleted.

  6. Check the empty_box.png and click Yes, delete.

Tip

Did you accidentally remove a metaproperty? After removal, you have 30 days to restore your deleted metaproperties and metaproperty options in Trash. Read more about it here.
