Summary

Metaproperty options allow users to set asset permissions, restrict access, edit, audit, or delete. If users have access issues or if an overview of permissions is needed for a specific asset, the Asset Permission Viewer offers a quick solution.

Who?

This feature/solution is enable-able by a Bynder Admin.

Users with the Manage Metaproperty Options permission can use the Asset Permission Viewer.

Why?

As a Bynder admin you can set access restrictions by tagging assets with metaproperty options. Only designated users, user groups, or permission profiles can see, edit, or delete the assets. This allows for secure asset management and efficiency.

How?

Checking Asset Permissions

  1. Navigate to your Asset Bank.

  2. Open the asset, and go to the Info tab in the Asset Detail View.

  3. In the Asset metaproperty permissions section, click View asset permissions (visible if the permission is set).

  4. The Asset Permission Viewer will display all metaproperty options applied to the asset and the associated permissions for each. The options are indicated by the metaproperty_permission_viewer.png icon.

    • Permissions are shown for each permission profile, user group, or user. If no permissions are set, the viewer displays "No asset permissions have been set."

    • You can manage these directly by clicking the Edit button next to a metaproperty option.

Example 1

An asset with the "North America" metaproperty options selected is restricted, meaning only designated user groups like North America - Content Managers can access it. Other users cannot.

Example 2

An asset has both the"United States" and "Photo" Metaproperty Options selected.

The Asset Permission Viewer indicates that the United States option is hidden for the EU-only user group.

The Photo Metaproperty option is hidden from the Light Workflow User permission profile.

Users in the EU-only user group and assigned to the Light Workflow permission profile cannot view this asset.

  • By default, assets tagged with multiple permissions will not be visible to users who don't have all the necessary permissions to view them.
  • Your portal configuration may allow users to view assets tagged with multiple options from the same hidden by default metaproperty, even if they don't have access to each option.
