Upload Files into a Batch

Summary

A batch upload lets you bring multiple files into Workspace in one go, where you can review, enrich, and publish them together. You start a batch from the Uploads page in Workspace by selecting files from your computer. Once the upload begins, the batch is created automatically and you can start working with files as they arrive.

Note

This feature is currently in Beta. For access, please contact your Bynder representative.

Who?

Batch Uploads in Workspace are available to Publishers with Access Workspace and Upload assets permissions, and Requesters with Access Workspace and Upload assets with mandatory approval permissions.

Why?

Uploading files in a batch speeds up your workflow. We upload up to 10 files in parallel, allowing you to efficiently prepare and enrich multiple assets before publishing them. You can track the progress of your uploads through visual indicators and counters in both List and Grid views.

How?

Start a Batch Upload

Every batch begins with uploading files. When you don't have any uploads yet, the Uploads page shows a No uploads yet empty state with an Upload button to get you started. After your first upload, the page lists your existing batches and you start new uploads from the same Upload button in the top right.

  1. On the Uploads page in Workspace, click Upload.
  2. Select the files you want to upload from your computer. You can select multiple files at once, but you can't select folders. Each batch has a file limit based on your permission, and selections that exceed it are handled by Bynder so the upload still goes through. For more on the limit, see Add Files to a Batch.
  3. Click Open.

The batch is created automatically with the name Untitled import and opens so you can start working with files as they upload.

Track Upload Progress

Once an upload starts, files move into the batch in waves and the UI shows progress in several places. Knowing what each indicator means helps you tell which files are ready to work with at any moment.

Bynder uploads up to 10 files in parallel. As each file uploads, it shows a blue progress fill and a percentage that climbs to 100%. Files waiting their turn show a Queued label until a slot frees up. Thumbnails generate in the background, so a file may show a spinner in place of its thumbnail for a moment after it finishes uploading.

The batch header shows an Uploaded X of Y counter so you can track the total at a glance. Progress is visible in both List view and Grid view. For more on switching between views, see Editing Modes in a Batch Upload.

Stay Within the Batch Size Limit

Each batch has a file limit, so selections that go over the cap are handled with a modal instead of canceling the upload. Knowing the limit before you start helps you plan large uploads.

Two limits apply, based on your permission:

  • Publishers can upload up to 1,000 files per batch.
  • Requesters can upload up to 250 files per batch.

For more on these roles, see Enable Batch Uploads in Workspace for a user

If you select more files than fit, the Maximum capacity reached modal opens after you click Open. Click Continue with X files to upload the files that fit, or click Cancel to adjust your selection. Files are kept in the order they appear in your selection until the limit is reached. Files past that point are skipped.

For more on adding files to a batch after it's started, see Add Files to a Batch.
