How To Enable And Use The VNTANA Integration

Summary

VNTANA’s cloud platform streamlines the management and deployment of 3D assets by centralizing their storage, automatic optimization, and conversion for various online channels, including e-commerce and augmented reality. This ensures fast loading and high-quality 3D visuals, ultimately enhancing customer experiences and boosting engagement and sales for brands.


Bynder offers a direct integration with VNTANA through their Integration Hub. This allows for the automatic synchronization of 3D assets and relevant metadata from VNTANA to Bynder. The transfer is triggered when the Review State reaches ‘Live Public', with metadata mapping facilitated by customizable tags. Once synchronized, a custom-built Chrome extension enables 3D viewing within the Bynder Asset Details View.

Why?

Once the VNTANA integration is set up, VNTANA can automatically send 3D files to Bynder based on VNTANA metadata fields. Using the VNTANA-Bynder Chrome extension, you can view your 3D files directly in Bynder.

How?

Configuring the VNTANA Integration

  1. In the Bynder Admin menu navigate to Advanced Settings > Portal Settings. Scroll down the left menu to the Integrations Hub section, and click Browse Integrations. Locate the VNTANA option and click Configure

  2. Enter a Name for your connector and click Save

  3. On the next screen, add your Bynder Authentication. If you have previous Integrations Hub setups, select an existing one. Otherwise, create a new authentication by entering your Bynder portal URL and signing in. The user account must have admin permissions in Bynder to create necessary metaproperties.
  4. For your VNTANA authentication, you’ll need an authentication key from VNTANA. To get this authentication key in VNTANA, please do the following:
    1. Navigate to My Profile.
    2. Navigate to Authentication Key.
    3. Click the Generate button to create a new key.
    4. Copy and paste they key into the VNTANA authentication section of Bynder. 

  5. Click the Next button once both authentications are filled in.
  6. On the General Settings page, select the VNTANA organization you’d like to sync to Bynder.
  7. Once you select an Organization, you have the option of selecting a Workspace within the VNTANA Workspace menu. If you select a Workspace here, the connector will only sync items within that Workspace. If you do not select a specific Workspace and select -NO WORKSPACE- , the connector will sync content from the entire Organization you selected in the menu above. 

  8. Click Next.
  9. On the Trigger Settings page, enter the VNTANA asset tag to filter assets during synchronization. You can enter multiple tags separated by a comma, and the connector will treat it as an AND condition (assets tagged with tag1 AND tag2 AND tag3, etc). 

  10. Click Next.
  11. In the Metaproperty Mapping page, you have the option to map metadata from VNTANA to the corresponding asset in Bynder. Select the VNTANA metadata field in the left-hand column, then select the Bynder metadata field you would like to map it to. Many clients choose to create additional, specific metadata fields with the prefix VNTANA to indicate that this data came from VNTANA. The following VNTANA metadata fields are available to pull into Bynder:
    • Product Data/Details
      • Status
      • Conversion Status
      • Created Date
      • Updated Date
    • Asset Data/Details
      • Original Size in Bytes
      • Conversion Formats 

  12. In this same menu, you can also choose a default value to populate a Bynder metadata field for all assets coming from VNTANA. For instance, if you wanted the Bynder Description field on all assets from VNTANA to have the phrase ‘Synced from VNTANA’, you could type out that option, then select the Bynder metadata field to add it into for all assets (the screenshot below shows it linked to the Bynder Description field, but it could be a custom Bynder metadata field as well). 

  13. Click Next.
  14. On the Consent on Creating Metaproperties page, click the Agree on the consent button to consent to the integration creating 4 metaproperties as part of the setup. 
  15. Click Next.
  16. On the Configuration Complete page, click Finish.

Once the setup is completed, the integration will create a Webhook in VNTANA. This Webhook is used to capture and validate asset events before syncing them to Bynder. It contains important information and should not be deleted, as doing so will prevent the integration from functioning. This is indicated in the Webhook’s description.

The synced assets from VNTANA will include GLB, USDZ, and FBX files, if available, as additional assets in Bynder.

  • The synced asset name and asset title will be the same as the asset name on VNTANA.
  • The synced asset name and asset title will be the same as the asset name on VNTANA.
  • The synced asset description will be the same as the asset description on VNTANA.

When an asset is set to 'Live Public' in VNTANA, the synchronization process will be triggered, based on the configured tags and attachment presence.

After the transfer, it will also check for any additional files to be moved to Bynder.

If you have the Bynder-VNTANA Chrome Extension installed, it will function as a 3D viewer when you open an asset in Bynder—provided it detects that the asset originated from this integration. It uses the metaproperty created during setup, which is populated with integration details. Upon successfully detecting the metaproperty value, the extension generates a VNTANA 3D iframe and adds a button that redirects users to the original files in VNTANA.

Using the VNTANA Integration

  1. To view 3D files from VNTANA in Bynder, you first need to download the Chrome extension: Bynder’s VNTANA 3D Viewer.
  2. Once you’ve added the extension, click into it and add your portal URL. Deselect the Hide VNTANA metadata fields if you do not want the viewer in Bynder to see VNTANA metadata in the connector iFrame within Bynder. Click Save Settings. This will save the Bynder Domain. 

  3. In your Bynder asset bank, navigate to an asset that came from VNTANA (note that the Chrome extension functionality noted below will only work for assets in Bynder that originated in VNTANA). Click the asset and scroll down to the metadata section. You should see the VNTANA metadata that came over, as an Open File in VNTANA Platform button:

  4. Clicking this button will take you to the asset in VNTANA. 

  5. In the Bynder asset, you can click the Versions tab and see the additional file variations of the asset, and download them. 

FAQs

How often will my files sync from VNTANA to Bynder?

This integration relies on an event notification from VNTANA, so as soon as you publish an asset in VNTANA, it will synchronize to Bynder within a few minutes.

What happens if I add a new version of an asset in VNTANA?

Versioning is not supported at this time. If you add a new version of an asset in VNTANA and add the tags to sync it to Bynder, it will come into Bynder as a new asset.

What if I have multiple organizations I need to sync?

Each organization will require its own connection.
