How To Delete Assets From The Asset Bank

Summary

You can delete assets from the Asset Bank if you no longer need them in your DAM. They will remain in the trash section of your portal for 30 days. If you removed an asset by error or changed your mind you can restore assets.  Another option for asset management would be to archive assets or set them to limited usage. 

Who?

The Bynder Admin has the ability to delete assets by default. Other permission profiles can be given this ability if the delete assets permission is selected. Contact your Bynder Admin to request access to this permission.

Why?

 Asset management is incredibly important to your Bynder portal health. Bynder empowers admins and select users to delete assets. If an asset is no longer helpful it should be removed from your portal to save storage space and to keep your asset bank clean, manageable, and up-to-date.

How?

How To Delete An Asset

1. Navigate to your Asset Bank.
2. Select the asset you would like to delete.
3. Navigate to the action toolbar click  in the top right hand corner.
4. Carefully read the warning message. 
5. Click Delete. The asset will move to the trash for 30 days. If necessary you can restore the asset within 30 days from deletion.

Note: If the asset cannot be deleted and you have the correct permissions you may need to check your metaproperty permission configuration. 

How To Check Metaproperty Permissions Within An Asset

1.  Open the details of the asset you are trying to delete.
2. Navigate to the section Asset metaproperty permissions and click View asset permissions. 
3. An Asset Permissions pop-up will open, navigate to the option that says it is Hidden By Default. Click the edit button for that option. 
4. This will open the Security Access Option permission management window. Here you will enable the Remove Media From This Option permission. You will now be able to delete the selected asset.
