Are you in the onboarding process or planning an import and do you want to send us a large number of files? Avoid the hassle of shipping external hard drives and import your files using the Secure File Transfer Protocol also known as SFTP.
The Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) that we offer is provided by the AWS Transfer Family. You can use this protocol to securely transfer your files to an AWS bucket, so that we can import them into your Bynder portal. SFTP supports transferring large files and there is no data or file size limit in place.
We'll provide you with an AWS bucket, a username and set up the SFTP server for you. You can transfer the files using your preferred SFTP client, which can only connect if there's a handshake (match) between the private and public RSA-2048 SSH key. This way, we ensure that the connection is secure and that you're the only one having access to this isolated SFTP server.
Once your files have been transferred successfully to the AWS bucket we'll import them into your Bynder portal. When the import is complete the AWS bucket including all the transferred files and SFTP server will be removed.
-
Inform your Onboarding Manager or Customer Success Manager that you would like to import files using SFTP.
-
Create a RSA-2048 SSH key pair on your side, which will include a private and public key. Follow the instructions below depending on your operating system:
Note
-
When you create your keys we strongly advise you to set up a passphrase for the private key.
-
Never share the private key and passphrase with anyone. Bynder will never ask you this information.
-
-
Send the public key to your Onboarding Manager or Customer Success Manager, who will then provide you with a username and other necessary details to connect to the SFTP server.
Note
Never send us the private key and its passphrase. The key will then be compromised and a new key pair will have to be generated.
-
Create a new SFTP connection in your preferred SFTP client using the following details. We recommend using Cyberduck or FileZilla In the below example we use Cyberduck.
Note
The name of the below fields may vary on your side depending on the SFTP client you're using.
-
Server
Fill in the server endpoint that Bynder provided you with.
-
Port
The port number will be set automatically and should always be 22.
-
Username
The username Bynder provided you with.
-
SSH Private Keys
Select the private key you generated in step 2. When prompted, enter the passphrase for this key.
Note
Never send us the private key and its passphrase. The key will then be compromised and a new key pair will have to be generated.
-
-
Connect to the SFTP server. The first time you connect you may get to see a Host Key Fingerprint. Check if this fingerprint matches the Host Key Fingerprint Bynder provided you with. This way, you can ensure you're connecting to the right server.
Note
The Host Key Fingerprint may not be shown depending on the SFTP client you're using.
-
Start transferring your files once you're successfully connected to the SFTP server.
-
Notify your Onboarding Manager or Customer Success Manager once all the files have been transferred successfully.
We'll start importing your files into your Bynder portal and we'll let you know when the import is complete.
