Summary

You can upload assets as a logged-in user by dragging and dropping files directly into your Portal or via the Upload Media button.

Who?

Users with the upload assets or the upload assets with mandatory approval permissions can upload assets. Users with the upload assets with mandatory approval permission cannot upload to the asset bank, their uploads will go directly to the Waiting Room for approval.

Why?

Bynder makes uploading assets easy. You can upload up to 250 assets per upload, with a maximum file size of 50 GB. When uploading via the API neither dimension can exceed a pixel size of 25,000.

The assets are imported with their embedded metadata (with a limit of 1000 characters per metafield); however, you can add additional metaproperties and tags during upload. Bynder recommends setting up metaproperty options before upload to easily manage the metadata options in your portal.

With the ability to have filenames as titles, product numbers per asset, and asset numbering in names, uploading assets can cover a lions share of search-ability needs for your assets and save time for yourself and your enterprise.

How?

  1. Navigate to your Bynder Portal. Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 12.01.24 PM.png
  2. Select the Upload Media button located at the top right corner and select the files from your desktop or navigate to the Assets tab to drag assets from your computer, and drop them directly into your Bynder portal.Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 12.04.22 PM.png
  3. Enter the title for each asset. The character limit for the asset title field is 400 characters. You can manually input the title or use the filenames as the title, your Customer Success Contact can enable this feature for you.
    • If you would like to automatically use the filename as the title contact Customer Support.
    • If enabled you can see the original filename in the info tab of your asset detail view.
    • If you manually input a title and click Make Titles Unique, Bynder automatically adds numbers to each asset in the upload batch.  Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 12.07.48 PM.png
    • If you are uploading an asset with product numbers, we suggest you separate your product number with an underscore. IE. product_1234.jpg. Without the separator (product1234.jpg), the product number will not be indexed and cannot be used for searches.
  4. Click on each tab to expand that metaproperty option. You can make certain metaproperties required. An asterisk appears next to the required fields. Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 12.49.58 PM.png
  5. You can add additional metaproperties by clicking Add Option.Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 12.15.04 PM.png
    • If you select No property, the selection will clear.
    • If you want to make edits to one asset make sure the asset is the only one highlighted.Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 12.19.40 PM.png
  6. (Optional) Add tags to your assets to help classify and identify your assets.
    • If a tag is displayed in a white font color, the tag applies to all selected assets in the upload or edit screen. If the tag is grayed out, it doesn't apply to all selected assets.Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 12.21.31 PM.png
  7. Click Store selected files (#) to upload assets to your Asset Bank.Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 12.26.38 PM.png
