Who Can Use the Duplicate Finder?
Users with the following right can use the duplicate finder:

You can enable the AI-powered Duplicate Manager to extend duplicate identification to all Bynder-supported file types (beyond images). Contact your Customer Success Contact for details about this advanced feature and associated costs.
How to Find Duplicate Assets

Navigate to Your Portal > select the Assets tab.

Filters must be applied before entering the Duplicate Finder.

Click the Duplicate Finder button in the top-right corner of the screen.

You’ll see an overview of grouped duplicate images. Each group represents assets identified as duplicates based on content, regardless of file name or metadata differences.
How to Manage Duplicate Assets

Select a Duplicate Group.

Review all versions of a specific image in the selected group.

Click Delete to remove unwanted duplicates individually.

Accidentally deleted assets can be recovered from the Trash folder.

Why can’t I see the Duplicate Finder icon?
You may lack the necessary permissions. Ensure your profile has Delete Assets rights enabled.
Will the Duplicate Finder respect visibility permissions?
Yes, the Duplicate Finder respects all visibility permissions assigned to your user profile.
Will duplicates be flagged even if file names differ?
Yes, the Duplicate Finder identifies duplicates based on the content of the files, not their names.
What happens if assets have different metadata?
The Duplicate Finder factors in embedded metadata but may not flag assets with differing metadata (e.g., GPS data) as duplicates.
What if an asset is similar but not identical?
Currently, only identical assets are flagged. Similarity detection is not yet supported but will be introduced in a future update.
Can I use smart filters with the Duplicate Finder?
Yes, you can apply smart filters before launching the Duplicate Finder. Note that filters cannot be adjusted within the Duplicate Finder. To modify filters, exit the Duplicate Finder, update the filters in the Asset Bank, and reopen the Duplicate Finder.
Does the system consider derivatives or older versions?
No, the Duplicate Finder only scans the active version of the original file. Its duplicate identification process does not include derivatives, additional files, or older versions.
Will archived assets appear in the Duplicate Finder view?
Yes, archived assets flagged as duplicates will appear, provided you have the necessary permissions to view them.

Navigate to the Asset Bank.

on the toolbar.

Each row shows images considered duplicates with their asset title, descriptions, and tags.

The first image displayed is considered the original image.
a. The original image is chosen based on most pixels (width * height). If they are all the same, it ranks on the date uploaded.

To delete a duplicate, click
beneath the image or choose Delete all duplicates (#) to delete all non-original images.

Using Make Original removes all the duplicates found and only keeps the asset you chose Make Original for.
FAQ
How are the duplicates found?
Duplicates are found by comparing pHash (perceptual hash). When you run the duplicate image finder, the hashes are compared, and if they are the same, these images are considered duplicates.
Will all asset versions be scanned for duplicates?
Only active or archived asset versions are scanned for duplicates.
