File Consolidation allows you to upload multiple files, such as PDFs and JPEGs, as a single asset rather than separate files. The system designates one file as the main asset while keeping the others grouped together as additional files. This helps streamline asset management by ensuring related files stay connected under one entry. File Consolidation only applies to uploads via the front-end uploader.
By grouping similar files, File Consolidation keeps the Asset Bank organized and reduces duplicate uploads, saving time and effort. It also improves searchability since all related files are stored in one place. This feature simplifies workflows, especially when managing different formats or translations, and supports approval processes by allowing files to be sent for review when needed.

How to Upload Assets Using File Consolidation
- Navigate to Asset Bank > Front-End Uploader.
- Ensure files meant to be consolidated share the same filename (extensions may differ).
- Drag and drop the batch into the uploader.
- Files with matching names will automatically be grouped into a single asset.
- Select metaproperties and other relevant details.
- Click Save to complete the upload.
💡 Tip: You can upload a mix of files—some will be consolidated, while others will remain individual assets. Multiple groups of consolidated files can be uploaded at once.
Important Notes
- Only the primary asset inherits metadata and metaproperties.
- Additional files do not inherit metadata.
- File extensions of additional files are not visible on the DAM asset card.
- Thumbnails for additional files are not displayed in the DAM or upload screen.
- This process is permanent—once files are consolidated, they cannot be separated into individual assets later.
