How To Use And Manage Videos In Studio

Summary

Adding video clips to the timeline is an essential function when designing in Bynder Studio. Users can add, delete, trim, and manage video clips within Studio projects when they have the correct permissions. Users can pre-define an asset source for a video by limiting access to a specific collection. This ensures that only a desired group of assets is used in a design. Users can also set the video thumbnail to ensure it is exactly what the user needs or desires.

Who?

This feature/solution requires your Customer Success Contact to enable, but then individual permissions can be done by the Bynder Admin.

Once Studio is enabled users with the Admin or Content Designer permission can add video to the timeline, configure dynamic video lengths, change the video thumbnail, and select the access source. All Studio users can trim a video.

Why?

Bynder Studio is meant to be used as a creative and effective tool. Users having the ability to manage and maintain the videos within their Studio designs ensures a smoother workflow, and ease of use.

Configure Dynamic Video Length

By default, Content Creators can replace existing video elements with a video of the same duration. With dynamic content, Content Creators gain the flexibility to create videos with different durations using the same template while ensuring that all elements in the template are adjusted accordingly.

  1. Navigate to Studio.
  2. Create a video design or edit an existing video design.
  3. Select a video element in the timeline.
  4. From the right-hand sidebar, click the Video tab and then select Duration.
  5. Enable Dynamic Content.

Optional: Select your preferred Timeline behaviors.

    • We recommend setting the timeline behavior to Auto if you have multiple videos in your design.

Optional: Repeat the previous steps for all other elements positioned next to or above the dynamic element.

  6. Click Save to save your changes and Publish to make the changes.

Understanding Timeline Behaviors

Static

The duration of an element and its position on the timeline is fixed and won't be adjusted if a video with a different duration is added.

For example, a logo is shown over a video. Both the logo and default video have a duration of 10 seconds. When a Content Creator replaces this video with a video of 20 seconds, the logo will still only show for 10 seconds. For the other 10 seconds, the logo won't be visible.

Slide

The duration of an element and its position on the timeline will follow the original logic and setup.

For example, a logo is shown over a video for the last 2 seconds of the video. The duration of the original video is 10 seconds. When a Content Creator replaces this video with a video of 20 seconds, the logo element will be repositioned on the timeline so that it still only shows for the last 2 seconds of the new video.

Stretch

The duration of an element and its position on the timeline will exactly follow the behavior of the dynamic video.

For example, a logo is shown over a video. Both the logo and default video have a duration of 10 seconds. When a Content Creator replaces this video with a video of 20 seconds, the logo element will be stretched on the timeline. The logo will then overlay the new video for the exact same 20 seconds.
