AI-Powered Image Enhancement in Studio

Welcome to the future of content creation in Bynder Studio!
We are excited to introduce our new Studio AI-Powered Image Enhancement tools. This MVP (Minimum Viable Product) allows you to repurpose and transform images directly within the Studio interface, eliminating the need to switch back and forth between Studio and external editing software.

Limited Trial Period Notice

We are currently offering this feature for a limited trial period to all interested Studio customers with an Advanced account.

Ask your Bynder contact for more information!

Getting Started: Prerequisites

To begin using GenAI in Studio, ensure the following conditions are met:

  • Account Level: You must have a Studio Advanced account.
  • Legal: Your organization must sign a Legal AI Addendum with Bynder.
  • Enablement: A Bynder administrator must enable the feature for you
  • User Permissions: Users must be granted the "Edit with AI" Studio permission at the profile level (can be set by your administrator).

Available AI Features

For this initial release, we have brought the powerful GenAI tools from the DAM directly into your Studio workflow:

  • Remove Background: Instantly isolate subjects from their backgrounds.
  • Replace Background: Change the setting of your image with a single click.
  • Resize: Adapt your images to fit specific design dimensions.
  • Drop Shadow: Add depth and professional polish to your isolated objects.
  • Smart Edit: Use natural language prompts (e.g., "remove pineapple", “add gloves”) to make complex changes to your images.

How to Use GenAI in Studio

1. Accessing the Tool

There are three ways to launch the AI editor:

  • In the Editor: Select an Image element.
The "Edit with AI" button is located in the right panel, over the top left corner of the asset thumbnail.

  • In Content Creation (CC) Mode: If the image is not locked in the design, the "Edit with AI" button will show in the right panel, over the top left corner of the asset’s thumbnail.

  • In the Uploads Section: Click "Edit with AI" from the contextual menu on images managed within your Studio uploads.

2. Enhancing Your Image

  1. Click "Edit with AI" to open the transformation module.
  2. Select your desired transformation (e.g., Remove Background) or enter a prompt in Smart Edit.
  3. Smart Edit and Generate background allow you to add a reference asset to be used in the creation of the new image
  4. Click "Generate" to view the results.

Good to know: You can run several transformations in sequence.
For example: you can change the object with smart edit, and then use the remove background.

Not happy with the result? Use history to go back to an earlier variation, or to start again from the original

3. Saving Your Transformed Asset(s)

  • Once satisfied with the result, click "Apply changes".
  • The generated asset will be saved to your Studio-Uploads storage for future use.
  • In the Editor/Content Creator: the system will automatically apply the new image to your design layout
  • In the Uploads Section: the GenAi interface will remain open, allowing you to save multiple variations of the asset to your uploads library

Known Issues & Considerations

  • Limited Image Size: generated images are limited in their maximal size and may not be of sufficient quality:
    • Images generated with Resize, Background removal and Background Generation will not exceed resolution of 5000x5000 pixels
    • Images generated with Smart Edit will be returned in a maximal size of 1024x1024 pixel resolution.
A higher resolution for Smart Edit (4k) is expected later this year
  • Unexpected results: AI tools may produce unexpected and inaccurate results. Take your time to try several variations and prompts to find what works best for your specific design, and always inspect the generated images carefully.

Some helpful tips and tricks

History

  • Use the History section to go back to the original asset or to use a previous variation if the results are not to your liking.
Rerunning and stacking actions may create unexpected results. Better to go back to the original and try again.
  • Apply your changes: the History section is only available to the opened GenAi session. Once you close the GenAi editor, the history will disappear.

Smart Edit

  • Does not respect transparency. For best results, use smart edit to modify your object and then follow up with “remove background”.
  • If you’d like to change the color of an object to a specific Hex color, add a reference asset in that color to the prompt.
You can also use reference assets to achieve a specific texture as well
  • Aspect Ratio may change when using a reference asset.

Background removal + Drop Shadow

  • Remove background + Drop shadow do not work well on objects with a transparent background.
