How To Add, Resize, And Crop Images In Studio

Summary

Adding images and videos is integral to creating content in Studio. Cropping or resizing design elements helps when you need them to fit certain dimensions or shapes.

This feature/solution requires your Customer Success Contact to enable, but then individual permissions can be done by the Bynder Admin.

Once Studio is enabled all users can crop and resize elements, though the how is different based on your profile. Admins and Content Designers can add images and videos to Studio projects. 

Why?

Bynder's Studio is highly customizable in order to fit the needs of all Studio users. Adding images and videos, along with resizing and cropping the elements is an integral way to customize the content created within Studio.

How?

Adding An Image Element

  1. Navigate to Studio.
  2. Create a new design or edit an existing one. 
  3. Click Edit design.
  4. Click  add-image-image-1.pngin an image project, or add-image-image-2.png in a video project.  
  5. Select Image.
  6. Browse or search for the asset to be added from Global Assets, a Collection or Uploads (if applicable).
    • Global Assets: This section includes the assets, as well as the collections, available in your Asset Bank.
    • Uploads: This section includes the assets, as well as the collections, that you’ve uploaded to your personal Uploads section.
  7. Select the image and click Add asset.

Note: Watermarked and archived assets can not be added as a design element.

Resizing And Cropping As An Admin Or Content Designer

  1. Navigate to Studio.
  2. Create a new design or edit an existing one. 
  3. Select the content item to adjust. To resize the bounding box of a content item, simply drag and drop the edges of the bounding box on the canvas. Alternatively, you can give a numeric value for the width and height of the item from the right-hand column.
    • If editing an existing design, click Edit design to access the Design Editor.
    • If creating a new design, you should be taken to the Design Editor automatically.
  4. Select the content item you wish to adjust, and make the adjustment wanted. 

Resizing And Cropping As A Content Creator

  1. Navigate to Studio.

  2. Create a new design or edit an existing one.

  3. In the right-hand sidebar, you will find the image content items to align. Click the More image options dropdown below an image or a video element.  How an element is cropped or resized depends on the option you choose:
     

    • Contain: The whole element is visible in the bounding box and nothing is cut off. The aspect ratio will be respected.

    • Cover: The bounding box is always be fully covered by the element.

    • Width: The width dimension of the element is set to the width dimension of the bounding box.

    • Height: The height dimension of the element is set to the height dimension of the bounding box.

    • Free: You have full control over resizing and position. With the Scale slider, you can decrease or increase the element's size.

    • The More image options section is also available in the Design Editor to adjust the crop and alignment of placeholder images.
