How to Enable and Use the Frame.io Integration

Summary

The Bynder integration with Frame.io streamlines your video production workflow by automatically syncing finished assets from your creative review process directly into your Bynder DAM. This ensures your marketing teams always have access to the final, approved versions of videos without the need for manual downloads and uploads.

Capabilities

  • Centralized Video Workflows: Allow your creative teams to use Frame.io’s specialized markup and review tools, while keeping Bynder as your single "Source of Truth" for distribution.
  • Custom Action Sync: Move assets or entire folders from Frame.io to Bynder with a single click using a custom "Send to Bynder" button.
  • Bi-Directional Metadata Mapping: Automatically sync names, descriptions, and tags from Frame.io to Bynder, and even send Bynder IDs back to Frame.io for easy tracking.
  • Intelligent Version Control: New versions sent from Frame.io will automatically be added as new versions in Bynder if the asset already exists, keeping your library tidy.

Who?

Configuring and management of this integration requires administrative privileges on both platforms:

  • Bynder: Administrator access.

  • Frame.io: Administrative access to the Adobe Developer Console for your organization.

Before you begin

Credentials: You will need to generate a Client ID and Client Secret from Adobe (instructions below).

How?

Step 1: Obtain your Adobe OAuth Keys

To create a secure bridge between the two platforms, you must first register the integration in the Adobe Developer Console.

  1. Log in to the Adobe Developer Console.

Step 2: Enable the Integration in Bynder

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Integrations Hub.
  2. Locate the Frame.io connector and click Configure.
  3. Give your integration a name (e.g. "Global Video Sync").

Step 3: Authenticate Bynder and Frame.io

  1. Bynder Auth: Select or create a Bynder authentication using your standard Admin credentials.
  2. Frame Auth: Click Add New Account and paste the Client ID and Client Secret you obtained from the Adobe Developer Console in Step 1.
  3. Follow the pop-up prompts to log in to Frame.io and authorize the connection.

Step 4: Select your Workspace

  1. Choose the Frame.io Workspace you want to connect to this sync.
    • Note: If you need to sync from multiple workspaces, you will need to purchase and configure additional integration instances.

Step 5: Customize your "Custom Action"

This defines how the "Send" button will appear for your team inside the Frame.io interface.

  1. Label: Enter the text for the button (e.g., "Push to Bynder").
  2. Description: Provide a short instruction for your team (e.g., "Send the final approved version to the DAM").

Step 6: Map your Metadata

Mapping ensures that the context and data of your video move with the file.

  1. From Frame.io to Bynder: Map Frame.io fields (like "Comment" or "Project Name") to your specific Bynder Metaproperties.
  2. From Bynder to Frame.io: You can choose to send the Bynder Media ID back to Frame.io. This is a great way to let your creative team know that a file has been successfully archived in the DAM.

Step 7: Finalize Destination

Choose the primary location in the Bynder Asset Bank where your synced videos will land.

  1. Select the desired Bynder Brand (if applicable).
  2. Confirm that assets will be sent directly to your Asset Bank for immediate use by your team.

How to Use the Integration

Once the setup is complete, the sync process is incredibly simple for your creative team:

  1. In Frame.io: Right-click on any asset, folder, or project.
  2. Select Action: Navigate to the menu and select your custom action (e.g., "Push to Bynder").
  3. Reliable Background Sync: The integration uses Intelligent Queuing to process the transfer. This ensures that even high-resolution, multi-gigabyte video files are transferred with maximum reliability and zero data loss.
  4. View in Bynder: The asset will appear in your Bynder Asset Bank, fully tagged and ready for distribution.

FAQs

How are versions handled?

If you send an updated version of a file from Frame.io, the integration automatically checks if that file already exists in Bynder. If it does, it will upload it as a new version of the existing asset rather than creating a duplicate.

Can I send entire folders?

Yes! By selecting a folder in Frame.io and using the custom action, every asset within that folder will be queued and synced to Bynder automatically.

How long does it take for videos to appear in Bynder?

While the transfer begins immediately, the time depends on the file size. Our Intelligent Queuing system prioritizes transfer stability, ensuring that large 4K files are moved safely without timing out.

Can I sync to the Bynder Waiting Room?

Currently, this integration sends files directly to the Asset Bank to ensure your approved content is available to your organization as quickly as possible.
