Adding a star rating field for assets in Bynder allows users to quickly identify popular or frequently used assets. By creating a rating metaproperty, you can assign ratings to assets and enable rating-based searches.
Who Can Set Up and Use the Rating System?
- Set Up the Rating System: Only users with permissions to create and edit metaproperties.
- Update/Edit Ratings on Assets: Users with permission to upload or edit assets.
- Search for Rated Assets: If the rating system is added as a smart filter, all users can view and filter assets by rating.
How to Set Up a Rating System in Taxonomy
- Create a metaproperty or edit an existing one.
- Select Field Type. Depending on how you want users to apply ratings, choose either Single Select or Multi Select.
- Enter a Field Name: Provide a name for the rating field (e.g., "Rating").
- Note: Once created, the Metaproperty ID or Database ID cannot be changed, but you can update the label.
- Choose Option Input Method:
- Select one of the following:
- Autocomplete Search: Recommended if you have many metaproperty options.
- Add New Options: Allows users with upload/edit permissions to add new rating options during asset upload or editing.

- Create rating options (e.g., "One Star," "Two Stars," etc.).
- Tip: Use star icons from Font Awesome to visually represent rating options.
- Create rating options (e.g., "One Star," "Two Stars," etc.).
- (Optional) Enable as a Smart Filter.
- Add the rating metaproperty as a smart filter to allow users to search and filter assets by specific ratings.
