Upload Animated GIF/AVIF Assets

If you have animated GIF/AVIF files and want your users to view the animation directly in Bynder, our asset detail view provides animated playback for an immediate viewing experience.

This feature/solution requires Customer Support to enable, but then individual permissions can be done by the Bynder Admin.

How to Upload an Animated GIF/AVIF Assets

Default behavior

  1. Follow the steps to upload an asset. 
  2. Under the Advanced Rights section mark the asset as public.
    Without this, the GIF/AVIF preview will not be animated! DAT derivative is not public upon upload. 
  3. Select Store Selected Files to complete the upload process.
  4. Once your asset is uploaded you can view your animated GIF/AVIF asset.

Alternatively, if the default behavior should be always animated without the need of marking them as public, please inform your Customer Success Manager to enable it for your portal. Gif/AVIF files then will have an animated preview in the Asset Details screen. 

How to View Animated GIF/AVIF Assets

  1. Filter or search for the animated GIF/AVIF asset. 
  2.  The animation will start playing as soon as the file is opened in Asset Detail View.

Note: If GIF/AVIF files are shown as animated only if they are marked as public then when watermarking will respect the permissions for downloading, but the preview will remain animated with no watermark. 
If GIF/AVIF files are shown as animated by default without being marked as public then when watermarking will respect the permissions for downloading and the preview will change from animated to static with the watermark visible.
