Meet the new Bynder Developer Portal

Summary

Coming in early November, our upgraded Developer Portal brings API documentation, SDKs, MCP, and Universal Compact View resources together in one place: developers.bynder.com. It is designed to be easy to read and easy to search, whether you write code every day or just want to understand what Bynder can connect to.

Who is this for?

  • Developers and integration partners who build with Bynder.
  • Technical and non-technical team members, such as project managers, marketers, and decision-makers, who want to see what is possible with Bynder.

One front door instead of many

Developer resources used to be spread across different tools and pages. The new portal is the directory. Everything starts at one address, and from there you can reach:

  • APIs: The "menu" of everything you can ask Bynder to do, with instructions for how to ask. Each API comes with its technical specification, authorization guidance, and usage limits.
  • SDKs: Pre-built "meal kits" for your programming language. Instead of preparing every ingredient yourself, you get ready-made parts, with installation guides and code examples.
  • MCP: A standard "adapter," like USB-C, that lets AI assistants connect to Bynder in one consistent way.
  • Universal Compact View: A ready-made, drop-in window you can embed in your own tools, so you don't have to build one yourself.

Organized by what you want to do

Before, endpoints sat in one long list, like a menu with hundreds of dishes and no sections. The new portal groups APIs by product area, such as asset management, content workflow, analytics, and governance. You start from the job you want done instead of scrolling through everything.

On the API landing page, you will find:

  • A search bar: Type an API's name and go straight to it.
  • Cards: Each API has a card with its name and a short description of what it does. For example, the Antivirus card explains that it manages assets flagged by antivirus scanning.
  • Beta labels: APIs that are new and still evolving are clearly marked, like a "chef's special, still being tested" note on the menu.

Easy to read for everyone

  • If you are not technical, the card descriptions help you quickly see what each API is for and whether it is relevant to your project, without reading code.
  • If you are a developer, one click takes you from the overview to the full reference, SDK guides, and code samples.

Always up to date

The documentation is now generated from the same source as the APIs themselves. Fewer outdated instructions means fewer broken examples and less time lost troubleshooting.

Glossary

New to developer terms? Here is a plain-language guide, using our restaurant analogy.

Term What it means
API A set of rules that lets one software program ask another to do something. Like ordering from a menu: you don't need to enter the kitchen.
Endpoint One item on that menu. A single, specific thing you can ask for, such as retrieving an asset.
Specification The detailed written description of the whole menu: every item, what you can customize, and exactly how to order it.
SDK A software development kit. A meal kit with pre-prepared parts in your programming language, so you write less from scratch.
MCP Model Context Protocol. A universal adapter that lets AI assistants plug into Bynder in one standard way.
Universal Compact View A ready-made window you can place inside your own tools, so your users can work with Bynder assets right there.
Authorization Showing your ID at the door. It proves you are allowed to place an order.
Usage limits The number of orders the kitchen accepts in a given time, so it doesn't get overwhelmed.
Beta New and still being tested. It may change before it is final.
