How to Create and Manage Carousels in CXUC

Summary

The Carousel is a horizontal container that holds an ordered set of slider sections on Homepages, Landing Pages, and Brand Guidelines. Each slider section functions as a full CXUC section. You can rotate any combination of widgets and layouts, including background imagery, headlines, body text, video, and calls to action (CTAs). In View Mode, the Carousel supports auto-play with configurable timing, navigation arrows, and pagination dots.

Who?

  • CXUC Creators and Managers can create and edit Carousels in edit mode.

  • Visitors do not require any special permissions to view a published Carousel.

  • Permission-based slide visibility (showing or hiding slides by user role or group) is not supported.

Why?

The Carousel provides a familiar building block to ease the transition from the legacy Homepage. It allows you to rotate brand visuals, seasonal announcements, and CTAs in a single block at the top of a page. Campaign authors can feature multiple pieces of content on Landing Pages, and guidelines authors can group related visuals together to add movement and keep content organized.

How?

  1. Open edit mode on a supported surface (Homepage, Landing Page, or Brand Guidelines).

  2. Convert an existing section into a slider section to create a Carousel around it as the first slide.

    • We recommend growing a Carousel from existing work rather than rebuilding content from scratch.

    • Alternatively, duplicate an existing section into a named, existing Carousel.

  3. Add further slider sections, either empty or from a section template.

    • A Carousel requires a minimum of two slider sections.

    • A maximum of six slider sections is enforced to protect rendering performance.

    • A Carousel cannot be nested inside another Carousel.

  4. Build out each slide by clicking into a slider section from the sidebar list. A Slider > Slide N breadcrumb will appear.

    • Edit the background, overlay, column layout, and the widgets it contains.

    • Set text colors per slide so headlines and body text read clearly against different background images.

    • Click Slider to return to the slide list.

  5. Manage slides using the sidebar list to reorder, duplicate, rename, and delete slider sections. Selecting a slide scrolls the canvas to it and shows it in an active state.

  6. Configure the Carousel playback behavior. Set the transition speed, slide delay, navigation arrows, and pagination dots.

  7. Switch to View Mode to preview the rotation, arrows, dots, and swipe behavior on touch devices before publishing.
