How To Configure And Use The Shutterstock Integration

Summary

Shutterstock is an American company that provides stock photography, stock footage, stock music and editing tools. The Shutterstock integration automatically uploads licensed assets from your Shutterstock account (or multiple accounts) to your Bynder DAM for a centralized asset management experience.

Who?

This feature/solution requires your Customer Success Contact to enable, but then individual permissions can be done by the Bynder Admin.

Once this feature has been enabled users with the Portal Settings permission can configure this integration. For more details on configuration, please refer to Integrations Configuration: Recommended Permissions and Best Practices.

How?

Configuring The Shutterstock Integration

After configuration, all licensed media for the connected Shutterstock account will begin to upload to your Bynder DAM. Moving forward, any licensed asset will automatically upload to Bynder about two hours after being licensed.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Advanced settings > Portal settings.
  2. Click Browse Integrations in the lefthand sidebar, then Configure in the Shutterstock section.
    • On this page, you will also see all the other Integration Hub options that are part of the Standard Integrations Hub package.
    • If you have purchased just one UnSplash connection, please select theUnSplash option. If you have the Standard Integrations Hub option as part of your contract, this allows you to have up to five integrations configured from this page. You are able to see how many connections you have available:

    • Please note that a ‘configuration’ means setting up one of these connections one time.

  3. Enter a Name for this configuration and click Save.

  4. Review the information is correct, then click Next.
  5. If you've already configured a Bynder connection, it will be selected. If not, select New Authentication to add your Bynder credentials:

    • Your authentication name: Enter a name for the authentication.
    • Domain: Enter your unique domain by copying the URL of your Bynder portal (including the https://).
    • If you want to connect more than one Shutterstock account, you must configure a new workflow for each account you want to set up.
  6. Click Create.
    • Include Videos: If you want Shutterstock videos uploaded to your Bynder account, check the box to Include videos.
    • Send To Waiting Room: You can choose if assets should be sent to the waiting room or uploaded directly to the Asset Bank.
      • Check the box if you want assets from Shutterstock to go to the waiting room for approval. Leave the box unchecked to send all assets directly to the Asset Bank.
  7. Click Next.
    • On the Shutterstock Configuration page select New Authentication to add your Shutterstock credentials, then click Create.
    • Sync after a date: You can control which assets are uploaded to Bynder based on when they were licensed.
      • If a date is selected, only assets licensed after that date will be uploaded. If left blank, all licensed assets will be uploaded to the DAM.
  8. Sync organization assets: If your profile can view organization assets, you can import all assets across your entire organization.
    • Select True to sync all organizational assets. Select False to sync assets licensed by the authenticated user only.
  9. Click Next.
  10. On the Metadata Mapping page, you can choose to map Shutterstock Metadata to Bynder metadata fields. When assets are imported from Shutterstock to Bynder, any data in those Shutterstock fields will write to the mapped Bynder metadata fields.
  11.  Select the Shutterstock field in the Shutterstock Metadata column, then select the Bynder field it should map to in the Bynder Metaproperty column.
  12. If you want to apply a default value to all assets coming in from Shutterstock, type the default value into an empty field in the Shutterstock Metadata column, then select the Bynder metadata field it should be added to in the Bynder Metaproperty column.

  13. (In the example above, all assets will have ‘Shutterstock Asset’ written to the Asset Sub-Type Bynder metaproperty.)
  14. Click Next.
  15. Click Finish.

Note: If you leave this section blank, only the default metadata will map to Bynder.

Editing The Integration

  1. Navigate to Settings > Advanced settings > Portal settings.
  2. Click Active Integrations in the lefthand sidebar, then Edit in the section of the connection that needs to be updated.
  3. Make the changes, then click Save.

FAQs

What types of files are supported?

Images, vectors, and video are supported for the Shutterstock integration.

What happens to the asset if I delete it from my Bynder portal or from Shutterstock?

If a Shutterstock asset is deleted from the Bynder DAM, it will not automatically be reuploaded to your Bynder DAM. Similarly, if you delete a Shutterstock asset from your Shutterstock account or if your license expires, it will not automatically be deleted from Bynder.

Once I connect my Shutterstock account to Bynder, how long will it take to see my assets in Bynder?

The updates will run on a ~2-hour interval, so your Shutterstock assets will be pushed to your Bynder portal every 2 hours.

What if we have multiple Shutterstock accounts?

Each Shutterstock account will need to be configured and connected. There is no limit to how many accounts you can configure.

In the ‘Active Integrations’ section of Integrations Hub, my Shutterstock connector indicates that an update is needed. What do I do?

Occasionally, Bynder will need to update a connector. In this scenario, please re-do the Bynder Authorization (create a new one), and walk through all the setup steps again, then click ‘Finish’ at the end. This will update the connector.
