To give you access to your Asset Library whenever you need it, you can now use it as an app on your phone or tablet. The app enables you to view the assets, add them to collections, favorite them, and share them. You can also view asset details or search for specific media. Additionally, the app uses the filters implemented in your portal so that you can filter for the assets you need.
The app uses the permission set you have in your portal.
The app is available for iOS (iPhones and iPads) and Android devices. Select your device below.
I have an iOS device
Inside the app you will find four tabs that allow you easily find the assets you need. In the Assets tab you can browse through the assets and apply filters to narrow your results. The Collection tab gives you access to created collections and your favorite items. In the Search tab you can search for the assets you need. In the Settings section you can enter the offline mode or logout from the app.

Quick start guide

Download the app from the App Store (Bynder in App Store).

Open the app, enter your portal domain and log in.

Upload assets in the Assets tab or use the Assets, Collections or Search tab to find the assets you need.

How to log in
-
Open the app to log in.
-
Enter your domain (portal URL) and tap Go on your keyboard. Your portal URL is your website address, for example: byndair.bynder.com. Tap Next in the right top corner of the screen.

Log in to the app with your credentials.
-
If it is the first time you log in you may be presented with Terms and Conditions. Read the Terms of Use and tap Accept if you agree.
-
Grant the app access to Bynder by tapping on Yes. This will allow the app to fetch the assets from the portal.
Assets
View assets
-
Go to the Assets or Collections tab and tap the asset you want to view.
-
A bigger preview of the asset will open.
-
Tap Details in the right top corner of the screen to get more information about the asset. Here you can see who added the asset, on which date it was added as well as all the metadata the asset is tagged with.

Note: If you would like to see thumbnails in your asset screen please contact your Customer Success Manager.
Learn more about which assets will display a thumbnail preview here. Other assets will display a file format-specific icons (ie. PDF,.PPT, RAW, .AI, ZIP, .XLS,.PSD) in the asset overview screen.
Select assets
First tap Select and then tap the assets to select them.
Filter assets
Tap Filter to narrow down your results by selecting the smart filters and metaproperties from your taxonomy. Also you can use advanced filters such as Asset Type, Orientation, Date Added, Date Modified and Extra (archived & limited). Tap a filter or metaproperty to see the underlying options.
Note

When opening a metaproperty the app will only show the metaproperty options that include at least one asset.

The filters reflect the metaproperties and their options you have in your portal.
Search for assets
You can use the Search tab to search for the assets you need. Follow the steps below.

Go to the Search tab, type your search terms and tap Search on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can click a recent search term that displays when you begin your search. The app will return the assets and collections that match your search criteria.

Optionally, you can apply filters to narrow your search results by tapping
in the right top corner of the screen.

Tap View all to show all the assets or collections that match your search criteria.

Tap on the asset you want to open for a bigger preview and more detailed asset information.
Download assets
I want to download one file

Make sure you're in the Assets tab.

Open the asset you want to download.
-
Tap
to download your asset.

Tap Original to download the original file or View derivatives to download a derivative.

In case you get to see a disclaimer, read it and if you agree tap Agree.
I want to download multiple files

Make sure you're in the Assets tab.

Select the assets you want to download and tap

Upload assets
You can upload assets in the Bynder app or from your Photo gallery or another app that stores files.

To upload in the Bynder app:
-
Make sure you're in the Assets tab.
-
Tap + in the left top corner of the screen. If this button is not available, you don't have upload rights. Contact your portal administrator for more information.

Select the asset(s) you want to upload (for approval) and tap the Add button.
-

To upload from your Photos library or a different app that stores files:
-
Navigate to the file that you would like to upload.
-
Click the share icon.
-
Select Bynder (you might have to click More to see Bynder).
-

(Optional) By default, the asset(s) will be uploaded to the Waiting Room. Depending on your user rights you can choose to directly upload to the Asset Bank. If applicable, toggle the Skip the Waiting Room switch if you want to directly upload the assets to the Asset Bank.

Enter a title for your asset(s) in the Update title field.
-
(Optional) Tap Make titles unique when uploading multiple assets, which will add an incrementing number behind the asset title. For example, Brand Logo 1, Brand Logo 2 and Brand Logo 3.

Enter a description for your asset(s) in the Add description field.
Note
In case you upload multiple assets all assets will be tagged with the same title and description.

Tap the Upload button to start your upload.
Tip
Do you not see a thumbnail for the files uploaded via your iOS device?
Bynder does not create a preview for HEIC file types. If you’re using iOS 11 or later, your camera may save the images as HEIC. Change this file format into JPEG or use the portal in the browser to add a custom thumbnail to your images.
Share assets
I want to share one asset

Open the asset you want to share and tap
.

The file needs to be downloaded first. Tap Download to proceed.

A share dialog will open, where you can share your asset using the default sharing functionality of iOS.
I want to share multiple assets

Select the assets you want to share and tap
.

Mark assets as favorite
When you like an asset you can add it to your favorites. All your favorite items are grouped together in a collection, so that you can always find them easily at a later stage.

Favorite assets are only available inside the app and not in the portal.

Open the file that you want to mark as favorite and tap
. The asset will be added to your Favorites collection, which you can find in the Collections tab.
Tip
When your asset is no longer one of your favorite items, you can easily remove it from your favorites by going inside the asset and tapping .
Delete assets
I want to delete one file

Open the asset you want to delete and tap
.

Read the warning message and tap Yes if you want to delete the asset.
Note
If the button is not available you don't have the right to delete assets. Contact your portal administrator for more information.
I want to delete multiple files

Select the assets you want to delete and tap
.

Collections
View collections
Open the Collections tab. You can use the search bar to find the collection you're looking for. Tap on the collection you would like to view. The collection will open and you can tap the assets individually for more information.
Add files to a collection
If you have the right to create collections you can use the app to create new collections or to add assets to existing collections.
I want to add my files to an existing collection

Select the file(s) you want to add to a collection.

Tap
and tap on the existing collection you want to add the asset(s) to. You can only add files to your own collections or collections for which you have edit rights. The collections that are unavailable to add assets to are grayed out.

If the + button is not available you don't have the right to add files to a collection. Contact your portal administrator for more information.
I want to add my files to a new collection

Select the file(s) you want to add to a collection.

Tap
and Create collection.

Fill in a name for the collection and tap Save.
Download a collection
I want to download a selection of files inside a collection.
-
Make sure you're in the Collections tab.
-
Go inside the collection you want to download files from.
-
Tap (More)>Select in the right top corner of the screen.

Select the assets you want to download and tap
.
-
Read the pop-up message and tap Download to proceed.
-
In case you get to see a disclaimer, read it and if you agree tap Agree.
I want to download the complete collection

Make sure you're in the Collections tab.

Tap the collection you want to download and swipe the Available offline toggle. This will trigger downloading the collection.

Share a collection
You can share your own collections via the app if you have the right to share media. Follow the steps below to share you collection.

Make sure you're in the Collections tab.
-
Go inside the collection you want to share.
-
Tap More>Share collection.
-
Tap Share with and fill in the email address of the recipient and tap
. Repeat this step if you want to add more recipients.
-
Optionally, you can add a message for the recipient(s).
-
Tap Recipients can to set up what users can do. Tap View if users are only allowed to View the collection and tap Edit if users are allowed to edit the collection.
-
Switch the toggle Require login if users are required to log in before they can access the collection.
-
Optionally you can switch the toggle Set the availability date to set up a valid from and end date. Recipients will then only be able to access the collection within this time frame.
Delete a collection
-
Make sure you're in the Collections tab.
-
Tap Edit in the right top corner of the screen. In front of the collections that you can remove the
icon will appear.

Tap the
icon of the collection that you want to remove and tap Delete.
-
Read the warning message and tap Yes if you want to remove the collection permanently. This action cannot be undone.
Example
Settings
Offline mode
Going somewhere without internet? No need to worry about not having access to your assets. With offline mode you always have access to your downloaded assets.
To enable the Offline mode, open the Settings tab, tap Offline mode and toggle the switch. The app will reload and the assets you downloaded before will be available.
To disable the Offline mode, open the Settings tab, tap Offline mode and toggle the switch. The app will reload and when connected to the internet all images will be available again.
Remove downloaded files
If you no longer need your offline files you can remove them from your device. To do this go to Settings>Offline mode and tap Remove all offline assets.
Logout
Follow the steps below to log out from the app.

Go to the Settings tab.

Tap your name and then Log out.

Select assets
Long-press an asset to select it. Tap to select or deselect other files after doing so.
Filter assets

Tap

Tap the metaproperty options you would like to set as filter.

Click Apply to filter your assets. The applied filters will appear at the top of the page.

Sort assets
Would you like to see the latest or oldest assets first or do you prefer to have them sorted by name?

Make sure you're in the Assets tab.

Tap Date added (Newest) in the top left corner and tap one of the available sorting options.
Search for assets

You can use the search feature to search for the assets you need. Follow the steps below.

Make sure you're in the Assets tab and tap

Type your search terms and tap Enter on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can click a recent search term that displays when you begin your search. The app will return the assets that match your search criteria.
- Further narrow your search by clicking the Image, Document, Audio, or Video filters.

Tap the asset you want to open for a bigger preview and asset information.
Upload assets
You can upload assets in the Bynder app or from your photo gallery or another app that stores files.

To upload in the Bynder app:

Go to the Assets tab and tap the + Upload Asset button. The native file explorer of your Android device will open. If this button is not available, you don't have upload rights. Contact your portal administrator for more information.

Select the asset(s) you want to upload and click Select.

It may take a few seconds for the file sharing screen to open as the asset(s) first need to be downloaded before they can be shared.

If the file sharing screen doesn't open you may have to allow the Bynder app to access your device storage. Go to your app settings and make sure to give the Storage permission to the Bynder app.

View collections
Tap in the top left corner and go to Collections. Tap the collection you would like to view. The collection will open and you can tap the assets individually for more information.
Add files to a collection
If you have the right to create collections you can use the app to create new collections or to add assets to existing collections.
I want to add my files to an existing collection

Select the file(s) you want to add to a collection.

Share a collection

Go to the collection you would like to share and tap
. The share screen will open. The assets will be placed in a collection in order to be shared.

Enter the email address(es) of the people you want to share the collection with in the Share with email addresses field. Tap the + icon to add an email address or tap Enter.
-
Select the Mange collection option if you want to allow the recipients to download, manage and edit the collection. This will make them sub-owner of the collection and for example allows them to add files to the collection, remove files from the collection, share the collection and to change the name of the collection.
Note
The recipients can only manage your collection if they have an account in the portal.

(Optional) Decide by (un)ticking the Require login box whether you want to require the recipients to login before they can access your share. This box may ticked by default and depending on your rights you may not be able to untick it.
Note

Make sure the Require login box is unticked when you share with external users.

(Optional) Use the From/ Until date pickers to set up a start and/or end date for the share.

(Optional) Enter a description for the collection in the Description field.

Delete a collection
