Slack Integration in Content Workflow

  • Updated

You can enable Slack in Content Workflow and get notified when an item's workflow status has been updated. Slack is a messaging app for businesses that connects people to the information they need. Slack transforms how organizations communicate by bringing people together to work as one unified team.

How to enable this feature in your portal?

Contact your Customer Success Manager to enable this feature in your portal and learn about any associated costs.

Before Setting up Integration

Every member in the Slack channel will be notified when the status is updated in Content Workflow. It is important to check the member list and notification settings in the Slack channel. Also, make sure to review the access of each user to the item or project in Content Workflow. If a user receives a notification in Slack but doesn't have access, they won't be able to see the project or item in Content Workflow.

How to Set Up Slack Integration

  1. Navigate to Content Workflow.
  2. Select the Settings tab.Screenshot 2023-10-31 at 12.55.19 PM.png
  3. Scroll down to the Slack Integration section.
  4. Enter the Slack Channel name and Channel webhook.
  5. Click Create Slack Integration.
  6. Now, whenever an item's status is updated in Content Workflow, a notification will be sent to your connected Slack channel.

Using Webhooks to get Notified on Slack

Set up a New Webhook

  1. Navigate to the project you wish to create a webhook for.
  2. Select the Integrations tab> Webhooks tab.
  3. Add a webhook by entering the webhook URL.
  4.  Select the event you wish to subscribe to and select Create new webhook.
  5. Once added, the webhook will send a JSON payload of data whenever the subscribed event is fired.

Use an Existing Webhook

  1. Any of your existing webhooks for the project will be listed under Existing Webhooks.

Important Information

If you click an item mentioned in a Slack notification, you will be taken to the Content Workflow login screen. If you're already logged in, you will be taken straight into the item (if you have access to the project).
