Asana Integration

  • Updated

Asana is a task and project management tool facilitating team collaboration and organization. With its intuitive interface, users can create, assign, and track tasks set deadlines, and visualize project timelines using features like lists, boards, calendars, and Gantt charts. Asana is designed to help teams stay organized, prioritize work, and ensure the timely completion of projects.

With the Asana integration, task assets can automatically sync to your Bynder DAM with relevant metadata. This bi-directional integration allows assets to move to Asana or Bynder using a customized trigger. Once the asset is synchronized, the data mapping for the custom fields and metaproperties are synced.

NOTE: You must have a Premium Asana account to configure the integration.

Important Information

Before setting up the integration, please ensure the following is set up:

  • You’ll need to copy the Asana API token for the integration. Learn more about finding the Personal API Token here.
  • You must create a trigger in Asana for each project you’d like to sync with Bynder.
  • If you use Task Custom Field as a trigger in Asana, we recommend creating a dropdown custom field and naming it Send to Bynder.
    • Include options such as Yes and No, with the Yes as a trigger to send the asset to Bynder.
  • If you delete the configured trigger, the integration will disconnect.
  • Assets uploaded as Attachments in your projects in Asana will be synced to Bynder.

FAQ

What types of files are supported?

All Bynder-supported file types are supported for this integration.

There is an Asana file limitation of 100MB.

What happens to the asset if I delete it from my Bynder portal (or visa versa)?

If you delete an asset in Bynder, it will remain in Asana. If you delete an asset in your Asana project, it will remain in Bynder.

What happens if you upload a new version in Asana?

If you add a new version in Asana and retrigger the sync, the new version will be added as a new file within Bynder. It will not be added as a Bynder version.

For Asana to Bynder, we use the original file name. Regardless of whether it's a new version, we do not add versioning to the name of the asset.

What happens if you upload a new version in Bynder?
If you add a new version in Bynder and retrigger the sync, the new version will be added as a new attachment within the existing Asana Task.

For the Bynder to Asana sync, we use the Bynder Asset Title and add the version at the beginning of the name.

What will happen to this integration if I delete the synced trigger in Asana?
Deleting the synced trigger in Asana will disconnect the integration. To fix this, you must re-add the trigger in Asana and then edit the integration to reconfigure the trigger.

How long will it take for assets to appear in my Asset bank?
Your asset will sync after approximately three minutes.
