Getting Started With Bynder As An End User

What is Bynder

Bynder is a digital asset management (DAM) system that helps your organization store, organize, and share digital assets — including images, videos, documents, and other media — in one central location.

Instead of searching through folders or multiple systems, Bynder uses a tag-based taxonomy that lets you filter thousands of assets by specific attributes, making it faster and more flexible than traditional folder-based systems.

Tip: Your Bynder Admin controls what you can see and do in the portal. If you cannot find an asset your colleague can access, contact your Admin to review your permissions.

Access your portal

Your organization has a dedicated Bynder portal URL. It usually follows this format:

[YourOrganizationName].bynder.com

Some organizations use a custom domain that does not include "Bynder" in the URL.

Note: If you do not have a portal URL or are unsure where to log in, contact your Bynder Admin.

Log in for the first time

Depending on how your Admin has configured your account, you will use one of the following login methods:

Option A — Single sign-on (SSO)

  1. Go to your Bynder portal URL.
  2. Click the SSO login button.
  3. You will be redirected to your company identity provider (for example, Okta, Google, or SAML) and automatically signed in.

Option B — Email activation

  1. Check your inbox for an activation email from your Bynder Admin.
  2. Click Activate Now in the email.
  3. Create a password. Use 8 or more characters, including uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
  4. Complete any additional fields required by your Admin.

Note: If you do not receive an activation email, check your spam folder or contact your Bynder Admin.

Complete your profile

After logging in, set up your user profile so colleagues can identify you in the system.

  1. Click the settings wheel in the top-right corner of the portal.
  2. Select Edit Profile.
  3. Fill in the required fields: username, email address, first name, and last name.
  4. Add any optional details your Admin requires, then save.

Tip: If you logged in via SSO, your profile details may already be populated from your company directory.

Navigate the homepage

After logging in, you will land on your organization's portal homepage. Your Admin designs and maintains this page, so the layout and content will be unique to your organization. Use it as your starting point — it typically surfaces highlighted assets, active campaigns, important announcements, and shortcuts to the content most relevant to your team.

Tip: If you are not sure where to find something, check the top navigation bar to access the Asset Bank, Collections, and any other solutions your organization has enabled.

Search for assets

Bynder offers three ways to search for assets:

Smart filters

Use the filter panel to browse and narrow assets by type, tags, date, or other metadata set by your Admin.

Search bar

Type a keyword in the search bar to quickly locate a specific asset by name or description.

Combined (recommended)

For the most precise results, apply smart filters first and then add a keyword in the search bar. If your Admin has enabled it, you can save your filter combinations for quick access later.

Tip: If your Admin has enabled AI-powered search, you can describe what you are looking for in natural language — for example, "man wearing a hat" — and Bynder will surface the most relevant results automatically.

Download assets

To download one or more assets:

  1. Browse or search for the asset(s) you need in the Asset Bank.
  2. Select the asset(s) you want to download.
  3. Click Download. If your Admin has set up a download request form, complete it before proceeding.

Note: If you want to download a watermarked version of an asset, you can submit a request. Your Admin must approve it before the download becomes available.

Share assets

You can share assets with internal colleagues, external partners, agencies, or clients.

Share using a Collection

  1. Select the asset(s) you want to share.
  2. Add them to a new or existing Collection.
  3. Share the Collection link with the recipient. You can customize permissions — for example, allow viewing only, downloading, or downloading with a watermark.

Share a public Collection link

If you have the required permissions, you can send a public Collection link directly. Recipients do not need a Bynder account to access it.

Important: Public Collection links are accessible to anyone who has the URL. Only share them with intended recipients.

Get help

If you run into questions or issues, here are your options:

  • Knowledge Base — Search Bynder's online help center 24/7 for guides, troubleshooting steps, and answers to common questions.
  • Your Bynder Admin — Your Admin is your primary contact for portal-specific questions and technical issues. They can escalate to Bynder Support on your behalf if needed.
  • Support tab — Some portals include a dedicated Support tab in the navigation that links directly to your Admin.

Tip: When reaching out to your Admin, include a screenshot and a description of what you were trying to do — it helps them resolve issues faster.
