Required Metaproperties

On the Configuration page of Metaproperty Management, you can find out which metaproperties are optional and which ones are required. By default, metaproperties are optional and don't have to be filled in when uploading or editing assets. Required metaproperties do need to be filled in upon upload or when editing assets

When a metaproperty isn't required, the Required switch is grayed out.

  3. Users must now fill in this metaproperty when uploading and editing assets.

Make Metaproperties Optional

By default, metaproperties are optional. If you set a metaproperty to required before, follow the steps below to make it no longer required.

  1. Go to settings_menu.pngSettings >Taxonomy > Metaproperties management and click Configuration in the left sidebar.

  2. Go to the metaproperty you no longer want to be required and click the Required switch. The switch will become greyed out.

Sort Metaproperties

In the Configuration section of Metaproperty Management, you can sort your metaproperties. The higher the list, the higher the metaproperty will show in the portal's upload, edit, and other screens.

  7. The sort order will automatically save. Click X when you are finished.

Pin Metaproperties to the Top

Rather than custom sorting all your metaproperty options, you can pin certain metaproperties options to the top of the options list. This is helpful if you’d like specific metaproperty options to be displayed to your users first, such as for the most frequently used options. For example, if you have a list of languages, you might want to pin English to the top while the other languages are ordered alphabetically.

  1. Navigate to settings-icon.pngSettings > Taxonomy> Metaproperties management and click Configuration in the left sidebar.

  2. Click the metaproperty with the options that you’d like to pin.

  3. Select Settings in the right sidebar and click theedit-metadata_pencil.png icon next to Options sorting.

  4. Click Select Options and check the box next to the options you’d like to pin to the top.

    Note

You can only pin up to 10 options at the top of the list.

  1. Navigate to settings-icon.pngSettings > Taxonomy> Metaproperties management and click Configuration in the left sidebar.

  2. Click the metaproperty option with the options that you’d like to unpin.

  4. Click the X next to the metaproperty that you’d like to unpin.

Read-Only Options

You can select options from a metaproperty to set as read-only. Metaproperty options already associated with assets are still visible in the DAM; however, adding the metaproperty option to the read-only list prevents users from selecting this metaproperty for any new or existing assets.

  1. Navigate to settings-icon.pngSettings > Taxonomy> Metaproperties management and click Configuration in the left sidebar.

  2. Click the Metaproperty you would like to set as read-only.

  3. Select Settings in the right sidebar.

  4. Click on Read Only Options.

  5. Search and select from the associated metapropety options. Users will not be able to tag assets with these options.
