By default content creators can only replace existing video elements with a video of the exact same duration. With dynamic content you give them the freedom back to your creative team.
With dynamic scene lengths you give your content creators the flexibility to create videos of different durations using the same template. At the same time you can ensure that all other elements in the template are repositioned and behaving accordingly.
Dynamic content gives your content creators the flexibility to replace existing videos in the design with video files that have a different duration. For example, if the original video has a duration of 1 minute they could replace the video with a video that lasts 2 minutes, which will add 1 minute to the total duration of the video.
When custom videos with a longer duration are added to a design this will impact the other elements inside the design. Studio's algorithm can help you to adjust the position and behavior of the other elements in the design accordingly. Our algorithm analyzes the new situation and adjusts the position and behavior of the other elements based on logic, best practices and use cases that are widely used in the video editing industry.
If you have multiple videos in your design we recommend setting the timeline behavior of all videos to auto. The same applies to other image and text elements that are positioned above or next to a dynamic video in the timeline. This way our algorithm will take care of adjusting the behavior and positioning of the other elements inside the design.
If the auto setting is not giving you the desired effect you can overrule this with a custom setting. Select the element in the timeline and apply one of the following settings:
-
Static
The duration of an element and its position on the timeline is fixed and won't be adjusted if a video with a different duration is added.
For example a logo is shown over a video. Both the logo and default video have a duration of 10 seconds. When a content creator replaces this video with a video of 20 seconds the logo will still only show for 10 seconds. The other 10 seconds the logo won't be visible.
-
Slide
The duration of an element and its position on the timeline will follow the original logic and setup.
For example a logo is shown over a video for the last 2 seconds of the video. The duration of the original video is 10 seconds. When a content creator replaces this video with a video of 20 seconds the logo element will be repositioned on the timeline so that it's still only shows for the last 2 seconds of the new video.
-
Stretch
The duration of an element and its position on the timeline will exactly follow the behavior of the dynamic video
For example a logo is shown over a video. Both the logo and default video have a duration of 10 seconds. When a content creator replaces this video with a video of 20 seconds the logo element will be stretched on the timeline. The logo will then overlay the new video for the exact same 20 seconds.
Follow the instructions below to set up your dynamic content. If you have multiple videos in your design we recommend setting the timeline behavior of all videos to auto.
-
Open the design in the Design Editor.
-
Click the video in the timeline and click the Properties tab in the right sidebar.
-
Select the Dynamic content option
-
Click an element in the timeline that is positioned next to or above the dynamic element, click the Properties tab in the right sidebar and set the Timeline behavior to Auto.
-
(Optional) Repeat the previous step for all other elements that are positioned next to or above the dynamic element.
-
If applicable, set the Timeline behavior option of your other dynamic videos in this design to Auto as well.
-
Open the Options dropdown and click Save to save your changes.
-
Open the Options dropdown and click Publish to make the changes available to content creators.
Note
If the Auto timeline behavior is not performing the desired behavior for one or more elements in your design you can overrule the setting.
-
Open the design in the Design Editor.
-
Click the element in the timeline of which you want to change the timeline behavior.
-
Click the Properties tab in the right sidebar and set the Timeline behavior to one of the other available options. Read more about the available options here.
