Do you need to create versions for your video? Save yourself time and create different variations for the same video design. This way you don't have to create a new design from scratch every time.
After setting up your basic design with all the necessary elements, effects, animations and configuration in place you can start creating variations. This will save you time as you only have to customize specific elements only, such as language specific text elements.
For example, when creating content for different regions some parts of the video may have to be available in different languages. In Studio you can create a variation for each language, so that you only have to translate those elements without having to recreate the complete video.
When you export your design you can choose for which variations you want to generate videos.

Note
-
To ensure performance, we currently support up to 50 rows per upload
-
Make sure all the audio, image and video files that you want to use in your variations are already available in your design. You can do this by manually uploading the files to your design in Studio.
-
Click the Variations button in the right sidebar. Click the
button and click Download data.
-
Open the File format dropdown and select one of the following file formats:
-
XLSX
You can open .XLSX files using Microsoft Office Excel. We advise to use .XLSX when you're using a Windows machine and the data for the video variations includes special characters.
-
CSV You can open .CSV files using your preferred text editor with CSV support or Microsoft Office Excel. We don't advise using Excel if the data for the video generations includes special characters.
Make sure to check these instructions in case you want to use special characters in combination with Excel.
Differences between XLSX and CSV
-
-
(Optional) Select the Include existing variation data option if you want to include the data of the variations that you already created for your design in Studio.
-
Click the Download button to download your file.
-
Open the file in Excel or your preferred text editor.
The header in the first row of each column represents a dynamic element that is part of the design. Do not edit these headers, since they are also used as unique identifiers.
-
Enter in each column of the second row the customizations for your video variation. In case of a text element replace the default text with alternated text.
You can also replace the default audio, image or video file with an alternative asset by entering the asset name. The alternative asset should already be available in the design, otherwise the asset cannot be linked.
-
Repeat the second step as often as necessary by creating new rows to create all the necessary video variations.
-
Save your file as a comma separated UTF-8 CSV file or XLSX file. Does your CSV file contain special characters? Read more about saving CSV files with special characters here.
-
Go back to your Variations section in Studio. Click the
button and click Upload data. Select your file and wait for the message that the import was successful to show.
Your variations will now be available in your design. If necessary, you can further customize them using Studio.
Saving CSV files with special characters
When working with a CSV file that contains special characters, the CSV file needs to be saved as UTF-8 format. This can be done in Excel by choosing the Save As option, then selecting CSV UTF-8 (Comma-delimited) (.csv) from the menu.
