You can have your own custom email addresses for your Bynder account. You can set up any prefix for a bynder.com Send from email address. You can use luke@bynder.com, apple@bynder.com, or tips@bynder.com. This is because this domain name has already been approved.
If you want to use another domain, such as luke@skywalker.com as the Send from email address, the people in charge of the skywalker.com domain need to give authorization to us for using this domain name for sending email. Once you have access to a specific domain name, you can create any prefix you want. This means that the moment you have authorization for skywalker.com, you can create Send from addresses, such as info@skywalker.com, luke@skywalker.com, or notifications@skywalker.com.
If the user william@bynder.com, for example, shares his collection and sends it to john@microsoft.com, then John will get an email from (Send from) notifications@bynder.com. However, the moment John replies to this automatic email the reply to email address william@bynder.com will be used. So in this case we use the registered email address of the Bynder user as reply to email address.
In other words, your technical department needs to authorize Bynder to use your domain name for sending email under your name. Compare it to your logo on the correspondence. You don't want just anyone to use your logo on their correspondence and that is why an email address needs to get verified from your side first.
There are two ways to do this:
-
Bynder verifies the mailbox. We send a confirmation mail to the inbox and you have to click on the link in the email. This means that the email box and the email address have to exist on your side in order for you to receive the verification link. You will only be able to use this specific email address as notification email address and not any other email address unless the other email address has algo gone through the verification procedure.
-
The second option is that we verify the entire domain. Then the email box does not have to exist. This method uses a DNS record that's generated and outputted in a CSV document. Your technical department will need to create the DNS verification record and keep it at all times. When they remove it, email delivery will stop after 5 days. The advantage of this is that after verification you can use any prefix, so any @yourdomain.com email address that you want for the notification email address, because the whole domain is now verified. This will give you the flexibility to change it later if necessary without going through the verification procedure again.
