Does Bynder offer ‘Two Factor Authentication’ (2FA)?

Follow Print

Upon request, Bynder now offers an even more secure way of logging into your Bynder account.

Two-factor authentication (also known as 2FA or MFA) is a technology that provides identification of users by means of the combination of two different components, which are often a combination of something you know + something you have.

For Bynder, this means a username + password and also a code provided by an app. This app is linked to the Bynder environment of the client, so the code created by the app needs to be entered as an extra security layer before the user can access the system. Bynder advises to use the DuoSec App. Another popular app that can be used is the Google Authenticator App. For more information on this, you can contact your Customer Success Manager.

NOTE: 2FA does not work in combination with SSO.

How to set up 2FA

When 2FA is enabled for your environment, it can be enabled for users in two different ways. You can let users enable it themselves in their user accounts or you can make it mandatory for (certain) permission profiles.

How to enable 2FA for an account when not mandatory

⦁ Log in to the portal with your credentials

⦁ Go to the top right corner of the screen, click on your name and click on Edit profile

⦁ Under Multi-Factor Authentication, click on Enable

⦁ Follow the instructions on the screen. At this stage, you will need to have an authentication app installed on your smartphone. With this app, you can scan the QR-code.

⦁ From the app, enter the 6-digit code that is displayed and click on Enable.

2FA has now been successfully enabled for your account. Next time you log in, you will also need to enter an authentication code in order to log in and access your Bynder account.

How to make 2FA mandatory for (certain) permission profiles (NOTE: ‘Heavy users’ only)

⦁ Go to Settings > Users & Rights > Permission Management

⦁ Select a user profile

⦁ Under User and Permissions, enable Use MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)

When 2FA is made mandatory for a permission profile, all users with that profile will have to set up 2FA the next time they try to log in. To know how to set this up as a user, follow the instructions under How to enable 2FA for an account when not mandatory
from Step 4.

How to log in using 2FA

⦁ On the log-in screen, enter your credentials and click on Login.

⦁ Open the authentication app on your phone and check the code for your Bynder account.

⦁ Enter the code and once again click on Login.

You are now logged in. Every time you log in again, you will need a new authentication code from the app.

How to reset 2FA

Sometimes, it might be necessary to reset the 2FA, for example when you have a new smartphone. You can reset the 2FA as followed:

⦁ Log in to the portal with your credentials

⦁ Go to the top right corner of the screen, click on your name and click on Edit profile

⦁ Under Multi-Factor Authentication, click on Reset

⦁ Follow the on-screen instructions

Note: It is not possible to disable the 2FA setting for an account once it is enabled. If you want the 2FA setting of your account to be disabled, please contact us.
